FOR PET'S SAKE: Whiskers\'s Wonders
Pets By Karen Lee Stevens, Santa Barbara, California (Thursday July 3, 2008)Whiskers. All us cats have them, although I like to think that mine are more beautiful than those of my feline friends. OK, to be perfectly honest, I don't have any feline friends except for that beastly tuxedo kitty who has punctured a few holes in our screen door trying to pop in for a visit. But I'm getting off task. Whiskers are more than just fancy facial hair; they have a very important role, namely to help cats navigate their surroundings
My Big Fat Jewish Lesbian Wedding
West Hollywood, California (Thursday, July 3, 2008) At 5:01 p.m. on June 16, 2008, my partner, Diane Olson, and I received our marriage license at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.
When we took the oath, the clerk who gave us our license had tears in her eyes. She had turned us down so many times earlier that she could not hold back her emotions. County Supervisor Zev Yarslovsky didn\'t cry, because I had been telling him jokes for the half hour we had waited in a private room inside the locked courthouse (I love a captive audience).
On Banks
Op-ed by George Reese, West Hollywood, California (Thursday, July 3, 2008)All I can say is WOW - Werner Haas\'s commentary last week about the bank\'s and lack of service was a bomb being dropped over West Hollywood.
For starters, he is right about that crummy pizza place on Sunset Blvd. I don\'t like saying the name of it, let alone writing it but I don\'t have a good feeling about eating anything good in their place.
Secondly I must disagree that there aren\'t any banks that care - Washington Mutual Bank has excellent customer service skills and I am hardly even close to being rich
Vaja Rocks the House of Blues
Club Review by Rick Sandack, West Hollywood, California (Thursday, July 3, 2008)Deftly wielding her fire-breathing, PRS Dragon guitar, Vaja (pronounced Vay-jah) delivered a rock solid performance Saturday night at the House of Blues, as part of the club's "Sunset Strip Music Festival.
The exotic-looking, head-turning, rock-star-in-training came to LA three years ago by way of Miami "with nothing but a dream" as she says.
She is methodically and melodically transforming that dream into reality by consistently delivering stellar performances at The Whiskey, The Viper Room, The House of Blues, and soon adding another key club to her hit list with her September 8th engagement at the Key Club
